A picture book full of learning! Contains over 900 words!
This picture book is perfect for children who are interested in Hiragana and want to learn words. Each page has one of the 50 Hiragana sounds, from "a" to "n", and the pages are filled with words that start with that letter. Food, animals, everyday items, greetings, traditional events... there are a total of over 900 words! You may encounter some words for the first time that you didn't know.
All the words are expressed as "motifs" drawn with embroidery thread on felt. This is a new picture book where children can learn many words while learning hiragana, and encounter cute and fun motifs made with embroidery.
The book includes explanations for children who want to try embroidery for the first time, as well as instructions on how to create designs that adults can enjoy as well.
Look for a word you like, look at a motif and imagine a word, or look at a page with the letters of your name.
Enjoy the world of A-I-U-E-O words created by artist Mari Kamio.

Learning and joy conveyed through the warmth of embroidery
This book is a picture book that has never been seen before, where hiragana characters are expressed through embroidery. There is one hiragana character on each page, and many words are expressed using those characters through embroidery. There are an amazing number of words, over 900!
This book is full of fun as you discover what words each embroidery represents. The words are carefully chosen, including unexpected words and words that children may not yet know, which will naturally spark conversations between parents and children. Another fun part is combining the words to imagine stories.
The experience of parents and children enjoying discovery and creating stories will stimulate children's imaginations and deepen their interest in words.
