With a space-saving design that is 32cm high when displayed, it can be placed around your desk, in the kitchen, or at the entrance – anywhere a large calendar might be difficult to hang. The photos are taken by Miyoko Ito. Fascinated by Java sparrows since childhood, she has worked on Java sparrow breeding pages for magazines and has produced numerous Java sparrow calendars and breeding guides. In 2005, she registered "Java Sparrow Day" (October 24) with the Japan Anniversary Association, establishing herself as a leading figure in the Java sparrow world.
From their plump white cheeks and red beaks, to their dignified stances, and even two birds affectionately lined up together. The elegant cuteness that only a photographer who truly knows Java sparrows can capture is all here.
Though small, the content is substantial. It includes rokuyō (six-day week), twenty-four solar terms, zassetsu (miscellaneous seasonal days), and phases of the moon. With an affordable price, it also makes for a great small gift.
