This book compiles the popular series "In Search of Masterpieces: Into the Forest of Cinema" from "MJ Musen to Jikken." The first volume was published in January 2019 and was well-received by many movie and music fans. This is the second volume, and like the previous book, it features movie jacket photos on color pages and introduces CDs of the music used in the films. It covers 102 works (51 jazz and pop, 51 classical).
Most of the music selected for this book is pre-existing jazz, popular, or classical music used in films. In addition to well-known films and music, some rather niche works are also featured. It also introduces factual elements, interesting episodes, and trivia. Furthermore, it provides simple plot summaries to help readers understand the film's content. The author has also written articles on building vacuum tube amplifiers for "MJ Musen to Jikken" magazine for many years. This time, several of those works are highlighted on the color pages.
