The book comes with a separate appendix, "Outdoor Star Chart Poster." It includes a "Star Chart Poster" that is easy to understand even for those new to stargazing. The "Outdoor Star Chart" consists of eight star charts, with stars rated at magnitude 6.5 or higher. It's also useful for actual observations.

■Star Journey: Goto Islands, Fukue Island This article introduces the starry skies of Fukue Island in the Goto Islands, Nagasaki Prefecture. Onidake, the symbol of Fukue Island, is a volcano covered in beautiful grass, and at its base is the Onidake Observatory, equipped with a 60cm diameter reflecting telescope. It also features scenes from an observation event at Onidake Observatory, gazing from lying on the grass on Onidake, and the view from the Osezaki Lighthouse Observatory, which overlooks the Osezaki Lighthouse at the westernmost tip of Fukue Island. Incidentally, Onidake Observatory and Fukue Island are also one of the settings for the film "Looking at the Stars This Summer," based on the novel by Tsujimura Mizuki and set to hit theaters this summer.
■ Observing and photographing the Perseid meteor shower The Perseid meteor shower is a spectacle in the summer night sky every year, and the three nights from the night of August 11th to the morning of August 14th are recommended for viewing. The peak of the meteor shower is expected to be around 5:00 AM on August 13th, with the most meteors likely to be visible from late at night on the 12th until the early hours of the 13th. Unfortunately, this year the moon is shining brightly in the night sky, so fewer meteors will be visible with the naked eye. Here we will explain how to observe the meteor shower under moonlight, and how to effectively capture video of meteors under moonlight.
■ Appearance of low-latitude auroras
Low-latitude auroras were observed in Hokkaido and other parts of Japan from late June 1st to the early hours of the 2nd. This article explains the solar activity that led to this low-latitude aurora, as well as the differences between it and the low-latitude aurora that appeared on August 12th and 13th last year. In addition to aurora images taken in Hokkaido, Tohoku, and Kanto, it also introduces images taken in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and New Zealand in the Southern Hemisphere around the same time.
