We will explore the possibilities of graphic design and what questions it can raise in society using gender as a starting point.

Special Feature: Feminist Moment: The Possibilities of Graphic Design Considered from a Gender Perspective

Many people living today, regardless of gender, are experiencing a "feminist moment" in which they have become personally aware of feminism and gender issues or have been directly involved in them.

What questions can we ask through design about a society that faces such gender inequality?

This special feature begins by introducing ambitious projects and exhibitions by female designers in Korea, and goes on to introduce the work of new and established female designers from Japan, the United States, and Europe.

However, the female designers featured in this special feature are not necessarily feminists, and not all of them consciously confront gender issues.

Of course, gender does not dictate a particular shape or design style, and this feature is not intended to link gender and style.

In short, when considering the future possibilities of graphic design, categorizing design as female or male is in itself a meaningless act, and there is no need for creators or recipients of design to be bound by bracketed styles or anything bracketed.

In this special feature, we decided to return to this common sense by deliberately injecting a gender bias into the project itself.

With this in mind, the true value of design is now being tested by asking ourselves what questions we can ask society.
