Description

■The disappearance of Saturn's rings■Observation of the disappearance of Saturn's ringsSaturn is famous as a planet with rings, but in 2025, there will be two "disappearances of Saturn's rings," when the rings will no longer be visible from Earth. The first disappearance of the rings will occur on March 24th, followed by the second on May 7th. However, the first disappearance of the rings is not suitable for observation because Saturn is located close to the Sun. On the other hand, around May 7th, the rings can be observed low in the eastern sky before dawn. Then, around November 25th, the rings will become extremely thin, making them difficult to see. We will explain the principles and observations of the disappearance of Saturn's rings, which occurs every 15 years.

■Report on the Chinese-made solar telescope "Heliostar 76Hα"
We will be taking a look at the solar observation telescope "Heliostar 76Hα" sold by Sky-Watcher. We will report on its performance, which is said to have double stack performance with a single etalon filter, by observing and photographing the actual sun.

■ Following Comet Atlas (C/2024 G3)
We still remember Comet Zijinshan/Atlas (C/2023 A3), which surprised us by becoming a naked-eye comet in October 2024, but in late January 2025, another comet, Comet Atlas (C/2024 G3), became a naked-eye comet in the Southern Hemisphere. Taking advantage of this opportunity, several volunteers from Japan made a quick trip to Australia and succeeded in photographing its majestic appearance. This article will introduce the expedition along with images of the comet that were photographed.
