Special Feature: Design and Locality

In this special feature, we will examine the keyword "locality" in graphic design, focusing on the exhibition "Graphics Interchange" held in Yamagata City last December.

The exhibition was initiated and planned by Osaka-based Harada Yuma (UMA/design farm) and Yamagata-based Koitabashi Motoki (akaoni). The first exhibition, Kansai to Tohoku, featured two exhibits by six young Kansai designers and Harada.

The first half of this magazine features a compilation of exhibitions by young designers, while the second half introduces the work of UMA/design farm and akaoni.
Through these articles, we will attempt to reflect on how each person translates "locality."
