From classic titles to the latest works, this exhibit will introduce over 40 years of digital game production history, focusing on the design of game screens.

Digital games have evolved beyond the realm of entertainment into a form of expressive media that moves people's hearts on a global scale.
When we experience that world, the game screen is our gateway as players.

This issue's special feature looks back visually at the evolution of game screens in digital games, focusing on methods of organizing information in graphic design, such as changes in expression related to operability and innovations in drawing expression, as well as the perspectives of user interface (UI) and user experience (UX).
A wide range of games from the 1970s onwards, all of which were created by clearing various constraints and requirements, were selected under the supervision of Miyake Yoichiro, a game developer and AI researcher.

In recent years, games that incorporate real-world location information and augmented reality (AR) have appeared, and these are being accepted as a kind of boundary space connecting the real world and the spiritual world, attracting attention from both inside and outside the industry for their future potential.
While we look forward to the future of gaming, we hope that this special feature will allow you to enjoy a bird's-eye view of the diverse world of games through the pages of the magazine.
