This book is a compilation of 177 works from 16 countries, and is the culmination of photographer Hidenori Kataoka's roughly 50 years of travel and photography, as he pursues the kind of photography he wants to take.
"I want to photograph the landscapes I gaze upon absentmindedly while lost in thought, the hazy worlds that appear in my dreams." In order to express his own worldview, he attached only a single convex lens (a magnifying glass lens) to his camera and continued to take photographs through repeated trial and error.
Each of his works, which he has named "Loupe Photography," conveys a soft impression, yet also conveys the tension felt at the moment the shutter was released.
